hello sweethearts! REV IT UP time! REV it up dare no. 12 is here!!
This week it is all about READ. And it seems like, since I have kids, reading is such a luxury! Especially when they were young (teenagers now!) I barely had time to read. Like ‘in the old days – pre kids’ I would read at the swimmingpool, beach or lake. Or just at home in the garden. hahahaha, insert kids, and NO WAY I could do that anymore! I would have to have my hawk eye at those kids, scared of them getting lost or drown in the pool! Anyway, since they are teenagers now, and since they can swim hehe, I sneak in more reading time for me! And do I LOVE to read! It is an escape right? Do you love to read? Well, let’s make an artjournaling page about that. Also, if you do NOT like to read: you can make a page about why that is!
for now, here’s to another week, another creative play for you!
Prompt: READ
Exercise: use your brush pens (in my case “ecoline” brush pens)
I came up with this page
How did I make this page?
I got my favorite art journal out, and than decided to use:
- Ecoline Brush Pens (601, 337, 602, 236, 661, 202)
- not on the picture: a little bottle of White Ecoline
- white pen (my new favorite: Molotow acrylivc 127HS-CO, 16 signal white, bullet shapet)
- stickles
- stencil “Indian Mandala” by Birgit Koopsen for Carabelle Studio
- piece of cardstock or scrap paper
- a bit of sequins
- little scissor
- brush
Get out your favorite artjournal. As you can see, mine is almost finished! It just gives me such a huge feeling of accomplishment if all the pages are filled up with creativity!
And get out your brush pens. I am using Ecoline brush pens, but you can use any brush pens for this!
And just fill up your page the way you want the background to look! We are going to add water, so you can do it rather sloppy :). It does not have to be neat, because the water will do whatever it wants 🙂
Now just add water. Remember to clean your brush in between hopping from one color to another! Otherwise you’ll create a bit of mud color 🙂
The look of mixing yellow, orange and bright pink is just gorgeous!
Make sure you wet it all and let it drip here and there. No need for perfection 🙂
Now get out your Ecoline White (liquid acrylic paint) and add drops to your page.
If you do this, while your background is still wet, you’ll get this gorgeous effect. If you do it when your background is completely dry, you’ll get beautiful white blobs. Whatever you prefer 🙂
Now onto the stencil and my favorite white pen. I am going to trace the lines of the stencil with my white marker.
Check if you have everything outlined that you need.
Now go in with your white marker and add more details. As much as you like really 🙂
I just love adding dots, stripes and circles.
I wrote the title with the brush pen on a piece of cardstock and will glue it to the page with a gluestick.
Of course I will add some journaling also with the same white marker. I love the look of the white marker onto the Ecoline Brush pens. And this white marker is so good. It stays beautifully bright white and you just have to write one time. I have noticed that with some white markers, you need to write it several times to make it pop up real white. With this one (see the material list above for the brand!), it is just perfect in one go!
Glued the title to the page and finished my journaling.
But I felt it was missing something, so I decided to add in some sequins! That is always a good idea!
And I am adding them by pushing them into a ‘blob’ of Stickles!
So it looks like this, the stickles will come out underneath and that was just the look I was looking for!
Rapapa! Another art journal page done <3.
