hello sweethearts! what fun it was to see all your pages to my first Dare “PLAY” come by on social media! I loved your sweet comments and how you simply dive into the ‘assignment’.
here’s to another week, another creative play for you!
Exercise: Ton sur Ton (yes, all in one color!!!)
I came up with this page
How did I make this page?
I got my favorite art journal out, and used a Stencil (This is the “Disque Étoilé” from Carabelle Studio)
And I simply decided to use my pencil to go over all the lines in this stencil. I wanted to use watercolors again (yes, can you guess i LOOOOVEEEE watercolors? Since watercolors + stencils usually don’t work out, I just found another way to use it! So use your pencil to outline the complete stencil. And I might be a little crazy, but it is very very relaxing for me, I could do this for hours :).
And I decided on the color: EVERYTHING BLUEISH!
So after you have outlined allll the lines start coloring in. I decided to not color the stars, but the ‘lines’ in between. (When I was painting, I found out I forgot some lines! haha! No problem at all, just add them :). I also used different colors of blue watercolors.
there are many parts to color in, but it feels like your own personal handmade coloring page and I love to color!
fun fact: I LOVE to listen to podcasts while creating. This time I was listening to Marie Forleo.
When you are done coloring, I love to outline everything again with my pencil! Just to make everything pop out a bit more.
and dipping my brush into my tea cup does happen to me quite a lot. But coffee? Holy dang girl, never had that happen before. And as you can see, I really ‘cleaned’ my brush in my fresh coffee too. boohooo!
Now I decided what I wanted to do with the whites of the stars. I needed more glitter & color (who doesn’t right?). So I got out my glitter stuff & gel medium. I have applied my gel medium with an (old) brush and than just add the glitter to it!
Look at those lovely sparkly stars!
so I have used glitters, glittery stars and stickles to make my stars more shiney. I have handwritten my title on the side of the circle with pencil and than used one of the watercolors I used in my circle to color that in.
Some sparkly stars and a drop of watercolor paint was accidently on the white part of my page (where my journaling will be). But that is OK. I am all about those accidents and leaving them there. Me <3 Bob Ross 🙂
time for my journaling ! I have added it first with pencil and am now writing over it with a black pen (Staedler). I use a blank sheet of printer paper to protect my ‘stars’ because a. everything was still a bit wet (impatient me!) AND since I had used my pencil to outline the stars, I would smudge it hugely if I would go over it with my hand. So printer paper to the rescue!
see those cute little stars in between my journaling? I just let them sit there 🙂
just so pretty, amiright?!
and tada! There it is completely finished! When my journaling written with the pen was completely dry, I gently rub off my pencil lines underneath with an eraser. Not too hard, otherwise I will also erase a bit of my black marker :O.
My journaling is in Dutch! If you are curious what I wrote when thinking of the word BELIEVE, here you go:
“Believe in me. that is sort of a ‘thingie” for me. I noticed I got easily distracted by other people’s successes online. And it was not that I was jealous or didn’t want them to be successful, not at all! But it made me think “see! she is way more successful than I’ll ever be, because… And in one way or the other, it suffocated me. And I just real simply said to myself “DONE WITH THAT!”, let’s start focussing on ME”.
so this was my second REV IT UP DARE. I hope you liked it and I mostly hope you are going to play along! If you want me to see your beautiful creations (and I cannot wait to see them!), you can tag me on Instagram with @revlie but you can also use the hashtags #revitup #revitupdare #revitup2020 #revitupdare2020 #revlie #thecreativeplayground. I will & come looking for you to give some love!
Thanks again so so much for PLAYing along. I hope you had a great time and I’ll see you next week!
