hello sweethearts! REV IT UP time! This week the word has multiple layers, if you ask me. It is just so ‘double’. We LOVE to be online right? We do. But there’s also this pitfall of being sucked into tooooo much online activities. We all know how it feels, when you look at the clock at night, and suddenly it is 10 pm! Whuuutttt, it was just 8 pm right? Where did my time go? I want my time back! Yup. I surely do blame it on the smartphone. But hey, WE ourselves are in control of our own actions. I have written an e-book about this subject “Bye Facebook, Hello Focus”. With my time-making-formula! You can download it totally for free if you subscribe to my ‘normal’ ezine. So if you think you can need a little help with facing your smartphone-monster, ha, than please grab it 🙂
for now, here’s to another week, another creative play for you!
Prompt: OFFLINE
Exercise: use a stamp in a repetitive way
I came up with this page
How did I make this page?
I got my favorite art journal out, and of course my favorite watercolors (this time “The Classics from Prima Marketing), a brush, 3 ‘leafs’ stamps, ink, stamps and a black marker.
start by stamping your stamp (I’ve used 3 leafs) multiple times on a piece of white cardstock, or whatever paper you have lying around :).
I just stamped with yellow, orange and pinks. I will mention the colors I have used below in the supplylist.
After you are done stamping a bunch of them, cut them out, leaving a little white space around the edges.
I will ink my edges with the color I have also stamped the leave with. Of course you can change things up here!
now get out your watercolors (did you notice that IS my favorite paint medium to go to? hehe). I just add a little to the top and add extra water. I have used my bigger brush to do this. Than “stamp” your art journal on your table so that there will be paint dripping down your page. I am totally okay with it running through my stamp leafs. And you should too. Let go of any perfectionism, is better for everyone. hehe.
yes, my desk is always this messy. This is kinda neat actually. haha.
than it will looks a little bit like this above. You can use the colors you like. I have chosen to stick to a monocromatic color scheme.
For the title I wanted to do something different, and since I was stamping anyway, I figured might as well get out my alphabet stamps.
And I have used only upper case stamps. And I have lost the L somewhere along the way. I simply use the I and use my fineliner to make it an L. Problem solved 🙂
sometimes I write directly with pen, but this time I have used my pencil first. Just to see if what I want to write will fit in the space. But to be honest: it always does, and otherwise I shorten my last sentence. ha. Again: problem solved. Don’t make it too hard on yourself. Creating is supposed to be relaxing and fun 🙂
when my paint and stamps were completely dry, I wrote over my pencil with a black marker.
and rapapapa, page finished! I’ve only erased the pencil lines and seriously this page came together in less than half an hour :). I love it to create quick and fun pages!
these are the ink colors I have used.
The leafs stamps I have used are from my sweet friend Birgit Koopsen.
