hello sweethearts! REV IT UP time! This week it is all about CREATING and oh well I could talk ages about creating and how good for the soul creating is. For me it is an escape from real life. Also an escape if all the news right now is overwhelming. I am not hiding, not at all, I am taking it all in & I am learning. But I ALSO need me time, time to reflect, time to take a break and time to relax. Otherwise I will be no good to anybody or anything. When I create I will come in a flow-state-of-mind. I feel relaxed and I do not have a care in the world. Well, for that moment! It is not forgetting or hiding. It is about taking care of me and feeding my soul. Not creating is just not an option for me. Creating IS LIFE.
for now, here’s to another week, another creative play for you!
Prompt: CREATE / CREATING
Exercise: use posca pens, or any other paint pens you have! We are gonna make marks!
I came up with this page
How did I make this page?
I got my favorite art journal out, and than decided to use:
- posca pens size PC-1M (0.7 mm) bullet shaped, colors: light pink, pink, orange, yellow, black and white
- stazzon ink (black, fuchsia pink, orange zest
- clear stamps, one from Jane Davenport
- acrylic paint from DDina Wakley / Ranger, colors: Tangerine, Magenta, Lemon, Fuchsia)
- glue foam thingies
- piece of cardstock for the title
first I have added the different colors of acrylic paint directly from the little bottle onto my art journal.
than we are gonna use our hands! Teeheee! Nothing more fun than getting your hands dirty with paint! I try to switch fingers when I switch color, because otherwise you will end up with mud color 🙂
after painting the page, it looks something like this. I try to smudge the colors a bit so there aren’t ‘clean’ blocks of paint on my page.
when your page is completely dry, you can add your favorite stamps! hearts are always a good idea, because I already know I am going to fill them up with my posca pens!
you can use different colors of stamping ink, but I do keep the color scheme I have. So I am not gonna stamp with blue or green now. But stick to black, oranges and pinks.
I have added a few hearts with my posca pen because I did not have that small heart stamps 🙂
when you are satisfied with your background stamping (and remember: those stamps do NOT have to be perfect! It is ‘just’ the background and you are going to work with your Posca Pens on them). So no perfection needed here thank you.
to make it look cohesive, I try to use my ‘marks’ the same for every ‘the same background’. I hope I make this clear. So for all my black hearts, I created small dots with my white posca pen. For all the light pink paint color, I have added small stripes, for all the darker pink / fuchsia, I have added pink hearts etc. That way your page will look more cohesive, other than one big mess of marks 😉
onto the title work. I have written my title with pencil first and color it in with these 3 colors. The same as I have used as mark making on my page.
I love the look of colored in titles!
I cut my title by hand and leave a small white border around it.
And I have added the title with these little glue foam thingies to my page.
and here is the finished page! Quick and easy journaling page which you can create within half an hour! some more pictures:
so this was already my seventh REV IT UP DARE. and I have decided to change things up a bit. For now, you could only see this dare after you’ve signed up for my newsletter especially for this dare. But I figured, more people can enjoy these dares if I just open up my blogposts to the public. You can still stay subscribed, so you will receive a little heads up when the dare is ready to view! (or you can subscribe that’s up to you :). I will keep emailing every Friday morning to let you know you can see the new one. But I will publish these blogs publicly from now on.
I hope you liked this dare and I mostly hope you are going to play along! If you want me to see your beautiful creations (and I cannot wait to see them!), you can tag me on Instagram with @revlie but you can also use the hashtags #revitup #revitupdare #revitup2020 #revitupdare2020 #revlie #thecreativeplayground.
